About Me

Hey there! Thanks for making your way to this page and for wanting to learn a little more about me, that’s so nice of you. My name is Katie Ann Hill (Olson) and I’m an artist from the greater Sacramento area of California. Living in California you’re never too far away from something beautiful. Whether it’s the Sierra mountains, coastal cliffs, redwood forests, or everything in between, all of it is so beautiful and inspiring. One of the reasons I was so drawn to art is because it’s a way to express the beauty that surrounds me, and living in such a beautiful state makes for a lot of expression.

I began my art education journey at 10 years old with lessons and eventually finding professional art mentors throughout Middle School and High School. In 2019 I received my bachelor’s degree in Visual and Fine Arts from Jessup University and continue learning every day through my own studies. I have had a variety of professional experiences including: working in an art studio assisting on large installations for theme parks and other businesses, leading and organizing six university art shows, teaching private and group art lessons, and doing commissioned artwork for over ten years.

The art I create is inspired by many things. It can be a reflection of the beauty around me, the simple desire to bring a smile to someone’s face, or to help others connect to something meaningful. Many of my favorite works are inspired from puns or joyful memories. A few years after getting married to the coolest guy around, I started thinking about wedding painting and how fun of an opportunity that would be. After doing my first live painting of a bride and groom at their wedding, I was hooked. I love knowing that what I’m creating will forever be a cherished memory by someone. That’s one of my favorite things about art, that it can hold so much meaning for someone.

I have always loved art. I joke that I’ve been creating since the day that I was born, but I really can’t remember a single point in my life where art wasn’t in the picture (pun intended). It has helped me grieve and cope with life’s challenges, as well as find hope and joy. Art is a passion that I’ve had from my earliest memories. After some time exploring alternate career paths, I discovered that art is something that I never want to be without and deserves to be my full career focus. So thanks for being here and for wanting to support an artist!
